Step 4

Choosing an affiliate product that fits your niche

When choosing products to promote on your website, they need to apply to your niche (your group of people you want help solve their problems or needs)

Let’s look back at our example of the pet industry, more specifically the cats.

While the cat’s niche is still broad, you could have narrowed it down to “litter boxes for cats”.

You will therefore focus your content on different litter boxes, litters to use, and so on, all related to the litter boxes for cats.

Your audience (visitors to your website) are those that look for information about just that litter boxes for cats.

So it would be normal to find products on your website that promote litter boxes for cats.

Promoting cat collars isn’t.

While it relates to the cat industry, it isn’t relevant to your audience who came for info about how to choose litter boxes and keep it a safe place for their cat.

The chance that you will earn affiliate commissions on those non related products is next to zero.
