How to get your first 100 subscribers on your email list — Part 3.
That actually wants to buy your stuff
What should you write in the subject line?
The purpose of our emails we send out to our subscribers is that they get opened and read.
If your subject line is not “enticing” enough, or give away what it is about and you only try to sell something, you will lose your readers.
At first, open rates will decline, unsubscribes will follow and in the worst-case scenario they will report you as a spammer.
Also important is to match your subject line to the content inside your email.
You would think this is obvious, don’t you?
It’s ok to offer products for sale in your email but not in your subject line.
Like me, if you subscribe to a list, you do because you believe when you do, it will offer you valuable information, and yes, a product you promote can solve the problem or need of your reader related to the topic you are covering.
So bombarding your list with words in the headline “50% off”, “last chance”, “last offer”, “deal” showing you try to sell something to them decreases your open rates.
